Successful Befriending Service Continues

Successful Befriending Service Continues

Article Written:

We have been working in partnership with The Hubb Foundation on a pilot project, The Hubb Club, to reduce social isolation in our community and improve the health, well-being and loneliness of residents as we know this can lead to poor mental and physical health.

We have four great volunteers who have all received full training and have been actively befriending individuals over the past few months. They have built good relationships and have supported them through weekly phone calls and/or visits.

I look forward to my visit each week and I don’t feel as lonely as I did before

A local resident signed up to the service

Due to the success of the pilot project and the benefits experienced by the individuals using the service, the project has been extended for 18 months. We now look forward to growing the service and helping more people in our community.

Would you, or anyone you know, benefit from joining a 12 week programme to receive weekly visits to your home or phonecalls from one of our trained befrienders? If you’re a resident of Middleport, Longport or Dalehall and would benefit from having someone to talk to, please get in touch to sign up.

If you’re a caring, compassionate, and friendly person looking for a volunteer opportunity, take a look at our Volunteer Befriender Role Description and contact us here, call us on 01782 817590, or call in to see us.
