April School Holiday Activities
Article Written:Over the April holidays we have had lots of activities on for local children and their families. They have been a massive success so thank you to all funders, partners and attendees who have made them possible.
HAF – Owl Session in partnership with The Hubb Foundation
Children and their families came along to enjoy owl related craft and activities – sadly the owls could not make it this time due to unexpected events but we still had a fantastic day with all of the families that attended.
Farm on Wheels
Local families joined us to meet the animals from “Farm on Wheels” and enjoy farm related craft – we met a donkey, spring lambs, rats, guinea pigs and one very energetic (and tolerant) bunny!
All children who attended went home with a decorated ceramic farm animal and a chocolate treat.
It’s not every day you see a donkey in Middleport! …. Thank you my kids have really enjoyed today, I wouldn’t have been able to afford to take them anywhere with animals so it’s great to have them on our doorstep
HAF – Horse Riding Trip in partnership with The Hubb Foundation
Local young people joined Middleport Matters staff for a trip to Lodge Farm – the young people who attended really enjoyed the day grooming, feeding and riding the horses and received a picnic style lunch.
I loved it! It was really good. I was scared but George (the horse) was such a good boy. We should go again.
I loved riding Holly (the horse) because it was really fun. This was an amazing day!
Nature Play – canalside
As part of our project with Canal & River Trust “More Than Water” we got messy down by the canal with local families during our nature play session. We wove fabric and natural materials into our giant loom, made messy mixtures with natural resources, played in the bubble pond and made stick teepees out of scavenged materials.
HAF – Middleport Park Fun Day in partnership with The Hubb Foundation
Over 300 people joined us on a very wet and windy day in the park. We were joined by Stoke Reads, NV Events – Inflatables, Canal & River Trust – canoeing, Stoke City Community Trust, Middleport Pottery and not forgetting our special guests Boomer, Kash, Pottamus, The Storm Troopers and one very sweet Hedgehog!
Everyone had an amazing day and lots of fun was had by all in spite of the bad weather. FSM eligible families went home with lunch provided by The Hubb Foundation and toward the end of the event chocolate treats were given out to all.
I loved everything about today, especially being able to get free drinks and books.
Great day, I felt like part of the family, I always do. Great job, excellent work from all of the team.
Other than the weather my girls had a fabulous time, I’ve come to realise that I have a Stoke fan and a Vale fan. Thank you Middleport Matters and everyone else involved.
