Everything we make, use, do, eat or throw away has an impact on the environment. We can use carbon footprints to measure this and compare how much damage different things do. Animal products typically have a higher carbon footprint than plant products.
Our eco lifestyle house tenants used to eat a lot of cheese. With the support of the Eco Lifestyle Project, they have reduced this significantly. This has reduced the carbon footprint of their diet by around 190kgCO2e, which is more pollution than using a whole tank of petrol.
